I realized a little bit ago that I haven't uploaded any of my sketches here for quite a while, even though I've scanned dozens more since then. Anyway, here's a sketch I did of a Sulidor, from Robert Silverberg's excellent sci-fi novel, Downward to Earth. What I love about Robert Silverberg is that he almost always populates his worlds with scores of fascinating little alien creatures. I have another page of sketches from this book that I'll have to scan and post soon.
The Sulidor was one of the alien beings illustrated in Barlowe's famous Guide to Extraterrestrials. To be honest, it was Barlowe's Sulidor that I imagined when I read the book, but I tried to come up with my own unique version. He's basically a sasquatch with a tail and a big nose.

Barlowe's Sulidor is a long-time favorite, so it's cool to see another talented artist's take on such an iconic alien!

Silverberg w00t!

Thanks, man! Yeah, Silverberg is one of my faves. Have you read "Downward to Earth" yet?
